Lean Manufacturing at Electromet

We have built a business model around "continuous improvement" and providing "best value" utilizing the principals of "Lean Manufacturing".

We continually strengthen our employee base through training and skill/knowledge enhancement.

As a charter member of the Maryland World Class Manufacturing Consortium, Electromet has espoused the principles of Lean Manufacturing and are waging a "war on waste" to improve processes and eliminate non-value operations and actions as the framework to becoming a "World Class" supplier.

"Lean Thinking/Manufacturing" is defined as "Increasing Customer Value by Eliminating Waste Throughout the Value Stream (what the customer is willing to pay for -not waste!)" Lean Manufacturing is considered a way of life, a philosophy: one that embraces a philosophy of excellence that includes the elimination of waste or non-value-added activities while adjusting the production flow according to customer demand. It has a beginning, but no end. "Lean" as a form of continuous improvement has no end. It's a journey, an ongoing process.

We truly embrace "employee involvement and empowerment." This is the fundamental difference in making improvement work in a "Lean" environment.
