Electromet Corporation COTS Catalog

Today’s electronic enclosure solutions must be rugged, high performing, standardized, readily available and affordable.  They also must have the flexibility to satisfy the requirements of many diverse programs and accommodate a range of enclosure sizes, installation options and payloads.  Unfortunately, no single enclosure can meet all of these needs.

At Electromet, we’ve addressed this challenge by developing a family of COTS utility cabinets that is based on a single, modular enclosure design.  We’ve engineered this design to accommodate the primary range of payloads and deck frequencies encountered most often in the Defense Industry.  This design has been qualified to meet the requirements of MIL-S-901-D (Shock) and MIL-STD-167 (Vibration) under the most demanding conditions.  The modular nature of this COTS family of solutions enables us to easily vary the height, width, depth and payload to meet the requirements of a specific application while maintaining rugged shock/vibration qualifications.  Because our design is modular, adjusting enclosure dimensions to fit a particular need is fast, easy and will not compromise shock/vibration qualifications.

Selecting the optimal enclosure is easy.  Cross-referencing the expected payload with the deck frequency of interest yields an enclosure part number designed to meet that requirement.  Part Numbers for the Navy Standard Utility Cabinet, Heavy Duty Family are shown below in BOLD.

  • Part Numbers shown represent a standard utility cabinet with isolation system tuned for the total payload and deck frequency of interest.  Electromet has already performed the engineering necessary to ensure an optimal isolation solution for each part number in the family.
  • The isolators selected have resonant frequencies greater than the mounting deck frequency indicated.
The isolators were selected at the nominal payloads shown in ITALICS with the expectation that loads may vary +/-10%.
  • Standard enclosure height is 75”, standard depth is 26”, and standard width supports universal 19” EIA racks.
  • For applications that will need to vary from either nominal payloads or the standard height, depth or width found in the baseline design, a modified design and part number will be generated as an extension of the standard COTS family of part numbers.  In these cases, Electromet will validate the selection of isolators to ensure optimal tuning based on design modifications and applicable payload and deck frequency.
  • Our family of enclosures also works well for applications where isolation systems are not required (hard mounted), or when a customer desires to install their own style of isolation system at a later time.  We can accommodate any mounting style or mounting hole pattern desired.
