Chemical Processing
For more than 35 years, Electromet has been keeping up with the changing demands of metal chemical treatment and finishing. The following chemical processes are performed in-house:
- Chromate Conversion Coating (“alodine”) per MIL-DTL-5541, including type II (“hex-free”, RoHS compliant)
- Passivation of Stainless Steel per ASTM A967 and AMS 2700
Electromet is an approved Special Process supplier for these processes to companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and others.
In addition, through our carefully chosen approved suppliers, we also provide a wide range of other metal chemical processing services, including, but not limited to:
- Electroless nickel plating per SAE-AMS-C-26074
- Anodic coating per MIL-A-8625
- Zinc plating per QQ-Z-325 and ASTM B633
- Nickel electroplating per SAE-AMS-QQ-N-290
- Cadmium plating per SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416
- Pretreatments per TT-C-490
- Zinc phosphate coating per MIL-DTL16232
- Tin electroplating per ASTM B545
- Silver electroplating per QQ-S-365 and ASTM B700
Electromet is committed to reducing the impact of these and all of its other processes on the environment. Besides adhering to all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, one of the ways we strive to minimize environmental impact is through the use of a completely "closed-loop" Wastewater Treatment System, operated by our Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operators certified by the state of Maryland. Because of this "closed-loop" system, Electromet discharges zero industrial wastewater to the city of Hagerstown.
